Roadside Spraying Program Gets Underway in Lethbridge County

May 6, 2016 | 11:01 AM

LETHBRIDGE – The Lethbridge County Agricultural Service Roadside Spraying Program is getting underway on rural roads.

Agriculture Service Board trucks will be deployed to spray the ditches for weed control. They are equipped with low drift nozzles to greatly reduce off target application and applicators are constantly monitoring wind speed and direction.

Local residents can get a “Do Not Spray” sign by contacting Lethbridge County or the Agricultural Services Board. To get a sign, residents must enter into an agreement which holds landowners responsible for weed control within the signed area and those agreements must be renewed each year.

Anyone putting up a “Do Not Spray” sign must make sure they are clearly visible to allow the spray truck operator time to react.
