Local bikers give sick kids a brighter day

LETHBRIDGE – A group of local motorcycle enthusiasts helped brighten the day of children at the Chinook Regional Hospital’s pediatrics ward.

The Southern Alberta Bikers delivered over 300 stuffed animals to the hospital’s atrium on Wednesday.

The toys were collected as part of the group’s Motorcycle Awareness and Teddy Bear Parade.

Dallas Harty, president of the group, said it’s a way to give back to the community as well as dispell myths about bikers.

“It’s quite rewarding to us to come in here and give these teddy bears to these kids and see what it does to them,” he said. “It puts a smile on their face and makes their stay here in the hospital a little more enjoyable.”

This is the 17th year the Teddy Bear Parade has been held.
