College Kodiaks Tap Gibos and Schwark to Lead Volleyball Teams
LETHBRIDGE: Both Lethbridge College volleyball teams will have new faces on the sidelines this season as Greg Gibos and Anna Schwark have been named head coaches of the men’s and women’s clubs, respectively.
Both Gibos and Schwark are southern Alberta products, and are familiar with the local volleyball scene. While each brings a lengthy resume, this will be the first time for both to work as head coaches at the college level.
“We are excited to add two extremely skilled, driven and enthusiastic coaches to the Kodiaks program,” says Todd Caughlin, manager of Athletics. “We believe both Anna and Greg will be able to elevate the level of our volleyball teams both on and off the court, and provide a first-class environment which will allow our student-athletes to excel.”
Gibos takes over the Kodiaks men’s program after spending the past three seasons as head coach of the LCI Clippers girls’ team, where he was twice named Southern Alberta High School Volleyball League coach of the year. A native of the Crowsnest Pass, Gibos has also coached at the high school level with Lethbridge’s Chinook High School and Edmonton’s W.P. Wagner. He has worked extensively with the Lethbridge Volleyball Club as a head coach at various levels, and in 2013 was an assistant coach for Alberta’s under-17 boys’ provincial team.
