Thirty-Four Western Hockey League Players Chosen in NHL 2016 Draft
ALBERTA – Thirty-four WHL players were selected in the 2016 NHL Draft, which concluded yesterday (June 25) at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, NY.
The impressive group of WHL players selected in the 2016 NHL Draft represented the second-most prospects provided out of any league in the world.
Four of the WHL players selected in the 2016 NHL Draft were chosen in the first round.
Jake Bean of Calgary, AB with the Hitmen, Brett Howden from Oakbank MB playing for the Moose Jaw Warriors, Lucas Johansen of Port Moody, BC, with the Kelowna Rockets and Sherwood Park, AB native Sam Steel with the Regina Pats were all selected to move up to the NHL in the first round.
