“First Shift” Program Helping Kids Get in the Game

Jul 17, 2016 | 11:23 AM

LETHBRIDGE – This coming winter, kids who have never had the chance to play hockey will have an opportunity to do just that.

With the help of Bauer and Hockey Canada, the First Shift program helps out kids between 6 and 10 years old who couldn’t participate before because of the expense, or feared they were going to be behind developmentally compared to their peers.

The $199 registration fee provides all necessary equipment from a helmet to skates, and six training sessions per week. Sessions run in small groups of four players to one instructor.

First Shift runs for six weeks starting after Thanksgiving.
