Aug 12, 2016 | 5:00 PM

LETHBRIDGE – Lethbridge athlete Rachel Nicol has helped bring Team Canada to the 4×100 meter Medley Relay finals.

Canada qualified after finishing second, just behind the U.S. this afternoon (Aug. 12).

The Lethbridge Amateur Swim Club (LASC) cheered on their teammate by hosting a live viewing of the race at the University of Lethbridge.

Susan Eymann, Exectutive Director of Lethbridge Sport Council, said that the local swim champ has been both supported by the club and acted as a support system for the young swimmers who look up to her.

“Having a mentor that inspires someone to really want to train to get to their level and recognize that they can one day get to that level is incredible. Watching Rachel make personal best after personal best has kept all of Lethbridge at the edge of their seats.”

The LASC will watch the gold medal swim live tomorrow (Aug 13) from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the U of L, in room PE 250.

Rachel’s final race takes place at approximately 7:50 p.m.
