Aug 20, 2016 | 9:03 AM

LETHBRIDGE – The Lethbridge Hurricanes are set to begin their pre-season early next month.

Tickets are now on sale for $10 each at the Coaldale Food Market for their first game on Friday, September 2nd.

The ‘Canes will go head to head against the Medicine Hat Tigers at the Coaldale Arena in the first of six pre-season games. All ticket proceeds will be in support of the Coaldale Minor Hockey Association (CMHA).

Some tickets will be available on game day, but it’s recommended that you purchase them ahead of time.

As part of the first game celebrations, the CMHA will be honouring NHL and WHL alumni, Stacy Roest, with the “Tradition of Excellence” award. Roest played with the Minor Hockey Association before moving on to the Val Matteoti Golden Hawks in Lethbridge.

Since then, he played in more than 240 games for the Detroit Red Wings and Minnesota Wild, before retiring from hockey in 2012. Roest is currently the Director of Player Development for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Hurricanes’ Rookie Camp begins on Thursday, August 25, with main camp to follow on Saturday, August 27.

They’ll play a Red versus White intrasquad game on the 30th at the ENMAX Centre. Admission is free to the game with the donation of a non-perishable food item.
