Approval rating flat for Notley while Wall sees dip

VANCOUVER — No improvement, but not much of a decline in the popularity of Premier Rachel Notley.

The latest survey by Angus Reid has Notley’s approval rating at 31 per cent. Her rating has been flat over the last few polls, at 32 per cent in May and 33 per cent in February, after a drop from 45 per cent last December. Sixty-two per cent of those surveyed disapprove of Notley’s performance, while another seven per cent are not sure.

Notley remains in the middle of the pack among premiers. Saskatchewan’s Brad Wall is still the most popular provincial leader. However, his approval rating took a big drop over the summer, from 66 to 57 per cent. During that time, Wall’s Saskatchewan Party government has faced controversy, as it looks at whether to privatize SaskTel. And a longtime cabinet minister stepped down, after pleading guilty to an impaired driving charge.

Manitoba’s Brian Pallister saw an increase in his second rating since taking office, up from 46 to 53 per cent.
