Edmonton’s White and Reilly, BC’s Arceneaux take home CFL’s October honours

TORONTO — Edmonton Eskimos running back John White and quarterback Mike Reilly and BC Lions receiver Emmanuel Arceneaux were named the CFL’s top performers for the month of October on Thursday.

White accumulated an average of 7.1 yards per carry in the month of October to help the Eskimos go 3-1 and earn their way into the playoffs.

In those four October games White rushed for 457 yards, scoring five touchdowns on the ground and adding 14 receptions for 91 yards.

White has rushed for 886 yards on 164 carries (5.4 yards per rush) and has scored eight rushing touchdowns in his third CFL season. He has also displayed his pass-catching skills, hauling in a career-high 58 receptions for 464 yards.

In his five October games, Arceneaux amassed 430 receiving yards, four touchdowns, and 28 completions.

The CFL’s top touchdown receiver continued his standout year, with strong performances to keep BC in the hunt for a home playoff game.

Arceneaux leads CFL receivers in receiving touchdowns with 11. He is third in receiving yards with 1,386 and fifth in caught receptions with 95.

Reilly, the league’s leading passer continued his stellar play into October. In Edmonton’s four games he completed 73.3 per cent of his passes while passing for 1,201 yards, seven touchdown passes and only one interception in 135 pass attempts.

In the four weeks of games, Reilly scored three rushing touchdowns.

This season, Reilly leads the league in passing with 5,554 yards. He has 448 completions for first place in the CFL, and is second in touchdown passes with 28.
