Dec 3, 2016 | 9:07 PM

RED DEER – The Lethbridge Hurricanes winning streak is over, but they did manage to salvage a point Saturday (Dec. 3) night in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Rebels.

For the second straight night the Hurricanes gave up the first two goals of the evening to Red Deer, finding themselves down 2-0 by the midpoint of the second period.

Tanner Nagel would get the visitors on the board 21 seconds into the third on the power play and Giorgio Estephan would tie things up with just over two minutes left in the final frame. Red Deer’s Brandon Hagel would then end the comeback 1:50 into overtime.

The loss ends the Hurricanes winning streak at six games, however, with the trip to OT, they remain on a seven game point streak.

The Hurricanes are now 13-11-2-2 and sit third in the Central Division standings, two behinds the Rebels.

Next up for the Canes is a stop in Edmonton on Monday (Dec. 5) to take on the Oil Kings. Edmonton sits two points back of Lethbridge and are riding a three game winning streak. It will be the first meeting of the season between the two clubs.
