The real dirt on farming – and how to pitch it

Jan 13, 2017 | 3:29 PM

LETHBRIDGE –   Speaker’s Bureau training program, hosted by Farm and Food Care Canada, is being held in Lethbridge on Tuesday, Jan 17.

Dubbed the “Real Dirt on Farming”, the training session is designed to help farmers and agri-business people speak up and use some of our research to do a better job when having conversations about food and farming.

The Bureau has used workshops to train about 1200 farmers and agri-business people across Canada and has also published a book entitled “The Real Dirt on Farming”.

The purpose of the book and the workshops Is to encourage those involved in agriculture to tell their stories – what they do and why they do it – to non-farming audiences like school groups, service clubs, municipal councils and others.

The program is designed to better equip those interested in engaging more urban audiences, and help them clear up misconceptions about Canadian agriculture.

The workshop runs from 9:30 until 3:00 at the Farm Stewardship Centre in Lethbridge.
