EDMONTON –   Alberta livestock producers are being asked to take time to complete a survey about drinking water.

Alberta Farm Animal Care says a team of University of Alberta students in their final year of the Animal Health/Animal Science program have developed the survey to gather information on the impact of drinking water on health and performance of Alberta’s livestock sector.

The students are under the supervision of Dr. Daniel Barreda, and the information will be used for their Capstone Project in Animal Health/Animal Science

There is an opportunity for producers, who are willing, to have free on-farm water testing done, and a copy of the results from the water testing will be provided to the producer.

The study will assess differences in well water quality in different geographical locations across Alberta.  The results will guide future initiatives that help manage water resources across the province and provide insight into producer perceptions of water quality and how it affects Alberta’s livestock.  THhe U-of-A team has set up a survey for farmers and ranchers to offer information.
