REGINA –   Farm Credit Canada (FCC) wants to hear ideas from charities and non-profit groups in rural communities, on how they can help with funding special projects to help celebrate our Country’s 150th anniversary.

For 2017 FCC upped the amount of money it set aside for its Agri-Spirit Fund and is making available $1.5 million in honour of the 150th anniversary of Canada’s Confederation.  It will give rural Canadians more opportunity to make positive changes in agriculture-based communities.

Over the past 14 years, FCC has awarded rural community groups between $5,000 and $25,000 in AgriSpirit funding for various community improvement initiatives from purchasing equipment for emergency services and recreation centres to building care homes and playgrounds.

Since it was established in 2004, the FCC AgriSpirit Fund has supported over 1,000 capital projects in rural Canada totaling $10.5 million in donations.

To qualify for FCC AgriSpirit funding, proposals must support projects that enhance a community.  The application deadline is April 17th and selected projects will be announced in August.
