Red hot Giorgio Estephan named WHL player of the week

LETHBRIDGE – Giorgio Estephan has been named the WHL Player of the Week — for the week ending Apr. 9 — following a scorching run for the Hurricanes’ centre in the post-season.

Over the course of three games, Estephan put up seven points (4G-3A), three of which came in a game seven win over the Red Deer Rebels, allowing Lethbridge to advance to the second round of the WHL playoffs for the first time since 2009.

Then, after dropping game one of their second round series to Medicine Hat by a score of 4-0, Estephan led the charge in game two, scoring three goals and adding an assist en route to a 7-4 win and evening the best of seven at a game apiece.

That production has Estephan tied for the lead in WHL playoff scoring with teammate Tyler Wong at 13-points, despite having played in seven games, two less than Wong.
