LETHBRIDGE – A month after being selected in the first round of the WHL Bantam Draft, Noah Boyko has been signed by the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

The 15-year old Boyko, who was picked 16th overall, is from St. Albert, where he skated 36 regular season games with the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers of the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League. He registered 52 points and finished the season tied for second on the team’s scoring chart.

In a news release from the Hurricane’s office, Boyko says he didn’t hesitate to sign on.

“I was just hoping to get drafted and I’m pretty happy being drafted by Lethbridge. It’s a great organization and I’m gad to be part of it – I didn’t even think about it – we just read over the rules and contract, and just signed.”

Hurricanes Head Scout Rob MacLacklan describes Boyko as well-spoken and very smart and says he is capable of playing centre or wing.

Boyko was also named AMBHL WHL Prospect of the Month in March and represented Team Northeast at the 2016-2017 Alberta Cup tournament.
