Lethbridge Hurricanes Goalie Stuart Skinner drafted by Edmonton Oilers

CHICAGO – According to many, it wasn’t if Lethbridge Hurricanes goalie Stuart Skinner would be drafted to the NHL, it was when.
 
It happened in the 3rd round Saturday morning (June 24), and he went as 78th overall pick to the Edmonton Oilers, his hometown team.
 
The 6’4, 205 pound netminder played in 60 games this past season, had a 34-18-3-and 2 record with 3.26 goals against average.
 
Overall Skinner has played more than 150 games, has posted a 3.28 GAA with a record of 74-51-6-3 and six shutouts.
 
He even scored a now- famous empty net goal back in 2016 against the Medicine Hat Tigers.
 
According to a Tweet by Edmonton Oilers Analyst Bob Stauffer, Skinner was picked to add “much needed” goaltending depth to the team.
 
Skinner has a busy summer ahead of him, attending Program of Excellence goaltender camp i July, along with 30 other goalies from across the country.

He is also one of seven goaltenders that will take part in the Under-20 camp in preparation for the 2018 World Junior Championships summer development camp.
