City offering plenty of activities, free shuttle for Canada Day celebration

LETHBRIDGE – Canada’s 150th birthday is just days away, and the City of Lethbridge is encouraging residents to enjoy it responsibly.
 
The Canada Day Committee will be offering a free shuttle service to and from a number of locations on Saturday (July 1). It will be available from 12:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m..
 
Celebrations in the city include:
 
Galt Gardens
– 9:00 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Show and shine;
– 9:00 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Pancake breakfast; and
– 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.: Concession and other attractions; and
– All proceeds will be donated to the Interfaith Food Bank.
 
Henderson Lake
– 10:00 a.m.: Red Dress Run, five-kilometer charity run and walk around the lake;
– 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.: Jim Pattison Broadcasting Main Stage, hosted by Country 95.5 and B93.3 featuring a mix of musicians and dancers from Lethbridge and area;
– 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.: Kid zone featuring bouncy castles and face painting;
– 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.: Active living zone featuring many community resources;
– 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.: Two Guys and a Pizza Place youth stage outside Nikka Yuko Japanese garden;
– 4:00 p.m.: Opening ceremonies and speeches;
– 11:00 p.m.: Fireworks finale; and
– Food hub will run all day with over 30 food vendors.
 
Henderson Area

– SLP Skate Park: Canada Day skate jam from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.;
– Henderson Pool: Open from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; and
– Spitz Stadium: Lethbridge Bulls double header at 2:05 p.m. and 7:35 p.m..
 
Those travelling to Henderson Lake Park with their own vehicles are reminded that westbound traffic along 6 Avenue South, between Dieppe Boulevard South and 29 Street South, will be redirected when going farther west than 29 Street. Eastbound traffic will remain open with a single lane.
