Hurricanes’ Addison gets second goal as Canada downs Slovakia 6-1

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia – Canada wrapped up preliminary-round play at the under-18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup hockey tournament with a 6-1 win over Slovakia Wednesday, Aug. 9.

Barrett Hayton led the way for Canada with two goals and an assist, while Joe Veleno and Anderson MacDonald added a goal and an assist each.

Calen Addison of the Lethbridge Hurricanes also scored for Canada, along with Gabriel Fortier. Canada scored five of its goals on the power play.

Oliver Turan, on a power play, had the only goal for Slovakia.

Olivier Rogrigue made nine stops for Canada, while Michal Vojvoda stopped 19 shots for Slovakia.
