LETHBRIDGE – The Lethbridge Hurricanes have trimmed their roster ahead of the Friday, Sept. 1 preseason opener.

Sixteen players were released earlier in the week, including Austin Wong. The younger brother of former captain Tyler Wong intends to pursue an Ivy League education, and has returned to the junior-A Okotoks Oilers, the team said on its website.

The cuts leave 32 names on the preseason roster, including Brennan Riddle and Ryan Bowen who will rejoin the team after they recover from surgery.

The Hurricanes will take on the Medicine Hat Tigers Friday at 7 p.m. at the Nicholas Sheran Ice Centre.
