Hurricanes’ Menell signs entry-level deal with Minnesota

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Lethbridge Hurricanes defenseman Brennan Menell has signed a three-year entry-level deal with the NHL’s Minnesota Wild.
The 20-year-old has had one preseason assist with the Wild, in a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche Sept. 23. In a prospects tournament Menell also had a pair of assists.
Menell had the most assists and second-most points of all WHL defensemen in 2016-17, with 12 goals and 59 points in 70 regular-season games, along wtih 29 penalty minutes. During the Hurricanes’ playoff run he added five goals and 12 assists.
Menell spent the previous two seasons with the Vancouver Giants, recording a total of 74 points.
