Jean apologies for using “R-word”

Sep 28, 2017 | 11:35 AM

RED DEER – United Conservative Party leadership Brian Jean is apologizing for some inappropriate language he used while discussing national politics.

In an interview with rdnewsNOW Wednesday in Drayton Valley, Jean used the word “retarded” while blasting Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard’s call for Canada to show unity in the wake of severe American tariffs being place on Bombardier.

“They would rather support a dictator and his abusive system to the people he controls, rather than good, clean Alberta energy. Like, it’s ridiculous, retarded.”

Jean took to Twitter on Thursday to apologize for using the r-word…

Jean’s campaign team says there will be no further statement or media availability regarding the matter.

Political opponents were among those who also took to social media to voice their disappointment over Jean’s choice of words…

UCP leadership candidates will meet for their second debate tonight in Edmonton.
