LETHBRIDGE – A 51-year-old Lethbridge man is facing a number of charges, after being arrested by the Downtown Policing Unit.

Around 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 7, an LPS officer was on a bike patrol in Galt Gardens, when he observed what appeared to be drug trafficking activity near the pergola. A male was arrested at the scene and a search turned up a bottle of methamphetamine, 15 pre-packaged baggies of methamphetamine, cash and two cell phones.

A further investigation then revealed that the male suspect was driving a Dodge Caravan, which police say had been stolen in Calgary. Inside the vehicle, which also had a stolen license plate, they found 21 high-powered rifle rounds and 19 shotgun shells.

Jalil Ali Bahrami faces charges of possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000, two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000 and two counts of possession of prohibited ammunition.
