Final Farmers’ Market of the season takes place today

Oct 28, 2017 | 8:20 AM

LETHBRIDGE – Today (Oct. 28) marks the final Lethbridge Farmers’ Market of the season at Exhibition Park.

With the exception of the Winter/Christmas Market December 1 and 2, there will be no more markets like it, over the winter and early spring.

Doug Kryzanowski, Exhibition Park Spokesperson,  says unfortunately, while Calgary and Edmonton can go all year round, there isn’t enough product for a year round market here.

“Our markets are a pretty social event. We put into the Exhibition Park location, around 2,500 every Saturday for six months. And then downtown, we do about 1,000 every Wednesday. Pretty health for numbers [of people].”

“It’s a lot of activity for these vendors and exhibitors and they make most of their livelihood in six months, and then they grow or do whatever they do and come back in May and start again.”

At the final market, there will be prizes for the best adult costume, a craft corner for kids, haunted halloween games and pumpkin exhibits.

The market is open from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
