LETHBRIDGE –  The newest members of the Hurricanes continue to make their presence felt and appear to have seamlessly filled their positions. But, it was veteran, Dylan Cozens, who was the stand out Saturday night.

Kelte Jeri-Leon opened the scoring for the Canes on an assist from Owen Blocker, just after the six-minute mark.  Mid-way through the first, Kootenay’s Cameron Hausinger tied the game. However, two minutes later, Dylan Cozens went it alone and notched his 14th of the season, putting the Canes ahead 2-1, which was the score at the end of the period.

Three minutes into the opening of the second frame, Kootenay’s Sam Huston evened the score 2-2, but the numbers didn’t sit long on the scoreboard.

Two minutes later, right off a faceoff, Dylan Cozens nailed his second of the night with an assist by Logan Barlage, and the Canes were up 3-2.

Cozens wasn’t finished with his onslaught of Kootenay’s net.  At 14:05, he tallied a hat trick off an assist from Taylor Ross and….Logan Barlage. The period ends with the Canes leading 4-2.

In the third period, the lone goal came along less than two minutes before game end.  The empty net shot was off the stick of Taylor Ross, on an assist by Dylan Cozens, giving the Canes a 5-2 win.

The Canes remain in second place in the Central division with 43 points and a game in hand. On Tuesday (Jan. 16) the team embarks on a five game western road trip with the first stop in Kamloops.
