WELLING – Raymond RCMP continue to investigate a two-vehicle collision south of Lethbridge on Saturday but, believe icy road conditions were a contributing factor.

RCMP, an Emergency crew and the Magrath Fire Department were called to two vehicle collision on Highway 5, about three kilometres south of Welling, around10:15.

An initial investigation determined that a north-bound van on Highway 5 failed to negotiate the curve in the road.  It entered the centre median becoming inoperable. A short time later, a car also failed to negotiate the same curve and entered the same median, striking the van from behind.

The car flipped on it’s side and was lodged against the van, pinning the driver inside the vehicle. The male passenger of the car was able to free himself, while the female driver was extricated.  Both were transported to hospital, he woman with serious undetermined injuries.
