Galko, Ramton Homes win CHBA “Builder of the Year” awards

LETHBRIDGE – More than 350 businesses, owners, elected officials and special guests attended the 19th annual Canadian Homebuilders Association “Building the Best Awards of Excellence,” Friday night at the Coast Hotel ballroom.

Award categories included new home design categories, community development, safety, energy efficiency, renovations, marketing, best trade, best supplier and builder of the year.

Michael Schmidtler, CHBA Lethbridge Region President said it was an honour to be able to recognize the region’s best.

“The overwhelming contributions from this industry here in Lethbridge continues to amaze me. The innovation and attention to customer service, safety and community engagement is well worth celebrating.”

Chris Spearman, Lethbridge Mayor, was also in attendance – and said the work all members did was ‘tremendous.’

“Your contribution to our GDP, the people you employ, and the way you work together, and the way you support our community …you’re the fabric of our community, and you’re really generating the wealth.”

Spearman also mentioned that in the near future, around 500 local jobs would be created, which meant more people would likely be buying homes as well.

 There were 30 award categories, from best single family homes from $200,000 to one million dollars and over, best multi-family, best energy efficient homes, best kitchen, renovations and even suppliers.

The Custom Builder of the Year award went to Ramton Homes, while the Builder of the Year was awarded to Galko Homes Master Builder.

New Home Design Categories: Avonlea Homes Master Builder, Galko Homes Master Builder, Stranville Living Master Builder, Ashcroft Master Builder, Ramton Homes, Cedar Ridge Homes and Janus Homes. 

· Best Kitchen – Avonlea Home Master Builder 

· Best Ensuite –  Avonlea Home Master Builder 

· The Energy Efficient award –  Greener Homes 

· The Best Ensuite Renovation –  Ramton Homes 

· The Best Overall Renovation – Reside Construction 

· The Best New Homes Sales Person –  Marilyn Eyre with Galko Homes Master Builder 

· Marketing awards were presented to Avonlea Homes Master Builder, Carefree Kitchens & Lighting and Ashcroft Master Builder 

· Best Development – Blackwolf 

· Best Community Event – RiverStone Unleashed 

· Safety Awards –  Cedar Ridge Homes and Neu-Lite Electric 

· Best Trade – Maverick Concrete 

· Best Supplier –  All Weather Windows 

· CUSTOM BUILDER OF THE YEAR –  Ramton Homes

· BUILDER OF THE YEAR – Galko Homes Master Builder
