Mar 26, 2018 | 10:12 AM

RED DEER – After forcing a decisive Game 3 in the Heritage Junior Hockey League final with a 4-2 win Saturday night, the Coaldale Copperheads couldn’t keep the magic going as they were defeated 4-2 by the now back-to-back HJHL champion Red Deer Vipers on Sunday, March 25.

The Copperheads led 2-1 just past the midway point of the second period thanks to goals by Ryan Tessemaker and Riese Nevil, before three straight goals by Logan Linnell put the Vipers on top.

Goaltender Nolan Berner made 27 saves in the loss, while Branden Bilodeau stopped 37 of the 39 shots he faced for Red Deer.

The season isn’t over for the Copperheads, however, as they alongside the champion Vipers will now head to the 2018 Alberta Junior B Provincials beginning on March 29 in Fort St. John to represent the HJHL.
