A Humboldt Broncos player from Lethbridge could help as many as six lives after recently signing his organ donor card.

According to a family statement shared Saturday, Logan Boulet was being kept on life support long enough for the organ donation process to take place.

Neil Langevin, a friend of the Boulet family posted on social media that Boulet’s “strong heart continues to beat” ahead of the process.

“He is a great hero and one of the nicest people you would have been lucky enough to meet,” stated Langevin.

A medical team from the University of Alberta was scheduled to travel to Saskatoon to carry out the organ transplant procedures on Sunday.

Fifteen others were killed and 14 injured when the Humboldt Broncos team bus was struck by a semi on a highway near Tisdale, SK. The Broncos were heading to Nipawin, SK for an SJHL playoff game at the time of the crash.
