LETHBRIDGE –  A 32-year-old man is in custody after what police are calling a targeted incident on the city’s west side Sunday night (April 15).

Around 9 p.m., police say they responded to a 9-1-1 call about a male firing several shots into a home in the 100 block of Heritage Blvd west.

Officers responded with a tactical team and the area was cordoned off as they tried to find the suspect. After the home was cleared, they then responded to a location along Dalhousie Court, but the suspect had already fled in a vehicle.

Around 1:45 a.m. Monday morning (April 16), police located the suspect. He was pulled over near Granum and got out of his vehicle.

Police say he refused to obey directions and tried getting back into vehicle when he was taken down and arrested by officers.

Both the man and his vehicle were brought back to Lethbridge.

Police confirm that while the shooting on Heritage Boulevard was targeted, it was neither gang nor drug related, and the suspect and victims were known to one another.

Lethbridge Police are expected to release more information after the man has been charged.
