LETHBRIDGE – A local couple plans to retire following their million-dollar windfall on Lotto 6/49.

Jerry and Diane Cunningham of Lethbridge won a $1 million guaranteed prize drawing on the April 4 Lotto 6/49 draw, with a winning number of 38515197-01. The winning ticket was purchased at the Mobil (Superstore) gas bar on Mayor Magrath Drive South.

“We’ve been talking about retiring for a while, but this made the decision a lot easier,” Diane Cunningham said in a Western Canada Lottery Corporation/Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission news release. She said she couldn’t believe it when she checked the ticket and had to call her husband to double-check.

The Cunninghams plan to buy a house and a truck – at least a newer used truck.

“We just want to live comfortably. So we’ll buy what we need and save the rest,” Jerry Cunningham said.
