Lethbridge contingent leads way in Senior Bowl victory

EDMONTON – There was a definite Lethbridge presence as the South defeated the North 38-23 in the Senior Bowl Monday, May 21.

Lethbridge Collegiate Institute quarterback John Evans rushed for 181 yards and two touchdowns, while going three for 11 in pass attempts. That rushing total is second all-time, since the game’s inception in 1990.

Evans was named Most Valuable Player for Team South.

Kai Sampson of Catholic Central High School added a pair of touchdowns, running into the end zone on quarterback sneaks.

The all-star game involving graduating high school players was played before 1,528 fans at Edmonton’s Foote Field.
