Dog owners urged to clean up after their pets or potentially risk closure of popular Scenic Drive dog run
LETHBRIDGE – More than 500 little pink flags wave in the wind the morning after volunteers spent Wednesday evening (May 23) picking up pound after pound of dog excrement after many owners wouldn’t do it themselves.
There are so many pink flags marking areas where dog poop is simply left by owners to rot, that it’s impossible not to be shocked. The flags will stay in place for the next two weeks, as a reminder of just how much was gathered.
According to Environment Lethbridge, volunteers ran out of flags to tag all the areas where excrement was discovered along just a quarter mile section of the dog run.
Helen Schuler Nature Centre Resource Development Coordinator, Curtis Goodman, is one of those who organized the “Doggy Doo Doo Crew Pick-up” event.
