Another candidate, Joseph Schow, to seek UCP nomination in Cardston-Siksika riding

CARDSTON – Joseph Schow, a husband and father of two with deep roots in the conservative movement, is seeking the UCP nomination in the new provincial riding of Cardston-Siksika.

The 34-year-old cites his upbringing in Southern Alberta and commitment to values of family, community and service as his motivation for running.

Schow says as a representative, he will always have an open door to anyone in Southern Alberta.

“I believe in what Preston Manning once called ‘the common sense of the common people’. Hard-working Canadians know what’s better for them and their families than political elites in Edmonton and Ottawa.”

Schow joins Marc Slingerland as the only two names currently in the running to replace current Little Bow MLA Dave Schneider, who announced earlier this month he wouldn’t seek re-election in the new electoral district.

When asked what his focus in the riding of Cardston-Siksika would be, Schow said he’s had the privilege of chatting with thousands of people at their doors already during his campaign.

“Albertans want an experienced representative who lives in the constituency and is willing to put real people first, someone who will stand up against NDP waste and red tape,” Schow continued. “I’m committed to fighting for farm families, defending and promoting Alberta’s ethical oil industry while championing the construction of new pipelines, defending parental choice in education, and fighting tooth and nail to repeal the job-killing carbon tax.”

A release states Schow brings a wealth of experience at both the federal and provincial level to the role.

As a political activist, he was the director of field operations for the Jason Kenney Unity and Leadership Team and also worked with the Conservative Party of Canada as a campaign manager, and as a legislative assistant on Parliament Hill in Ottawa and for the United Conservative Caucus at the Legislature in Edmonton.

Schow lives in Cardston with his wife, Nicole, and two children, Olive and Atlas and has received the following endorsements from Alberta MLA’s and MP’s:

Jason Nixon – MLA, Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre

Tany Yao – MLA, Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo

Nathan Cooper – MLA, Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills

Richard Gotfried – MLA, Calgary-Fish Creek

John Barlow – MP, Foothills

Garnett Genuis – MP, Sherwood Park-Fort Saskatchewan

Matt Jeneroux – MP, Edmonton-Riverbend

Tom Kmiec – MP, Calgary-Southeast
