LETHBRIDGE – A legend in women’s hockey in Canada will be in Lethbridge for a pair of events meant to empower women through sport and networking.

Cassie Campbell-Pascall, the only captain male or female to lead Canada to two Olympic gold medals, will host a free on-ice session between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. for girls on Saturday, June 16 at the ATB Centre. Event organizers say all skill levels are welcome to come out and play hockey with Campbell-Pascall.

Following that will be a fundraising dinner in the Grand Ballroom at the Coast Terrace Inn. It’s billed as an evening where Campbell-Pascall will speak to young women in the community about “coming out of their comfort zone.”

This is planned to be a ladies evening, and tickets will be sold in pairs. The cost varies depending on the type of ticket.

It’s $165 for two seats, one for the female host and the other for the female guest between the age of 8-18, or adults can purchase one individual ticket for $125.

If you don’t have a guest, organizers will donate your guest ticket to a local female athlete in the Lethbridge Minor Hockey Association.

The dinner begins at 6 p.m. and will be an opportunity to empower young girls, share experiences and provide mentorship.

Sponsors include the Lethbridge Cyclones, Lethbridge Minor Hockey and KPMG with all the proceeds from the dinner going to support the Lethbridge Minor Hockey female program.
