Seeding progressing in Alberta but still behind 5 year average

EDMONTON —  Alberta agriculture says seeding progress in the province increased by 30 per cent as of May 22nd, with 67 per cent of the seed in the ground.  The 5 year average is 83 per cent.
 
The most progress is here in the south zone, where 77 per cent of seeding is complete.
 
Surface soil moisture conditions in the south are rated at 42 per cent good and 13 per cent excellent.
 
Both pasture and tame hay conditions improved – with 67 per cent rated as good and 11 per cent excellent as of last Tuesday.
 
Fall seeded crops are rated at 64 per cent good and 20 per cent excellent
