The Run To Vancouver athletes visiting Lethbridge on Saturday

Jun 23, 2018 | 9:36 AM

LETHBRIDGE – Six young men from Montreal are relay-running their way along Canadian Highways with the hope that they can embody a fraction of the determination and courage held by their hero, Terry Fox and with 3,477 kilometres out of 4,632 completed they’re making a stop in Lethbridge.

Lethbridge has been home to quite a few members of Terry Fox’s family, including his uncle and cousins, and the organizers of the 2018 Terry Fox Run would like to invite members of the community to join them in welcoming the athletes.

They’ll be at Coulee Brew Co at 12:30 p.m. for a short rest, public meet and greet, and photo opportunity with some of Terry Fox’s family members.

This Run to Vancouver is only the latest in a series of awareness runs that the team known as The Montreal Runners have undertaken.

Starting in 2014 as a high school project by Ashkay Grover, then just 16 years old, the event has blossomed into biannual runs with a larger team and even larger goals. The current run has a goal of raising $50,000 for cancer research. In 2016, a four-man team ran the distance from Montreal to the White House in Washington D.C., raising funds for the Terry Fox Foundation.
