Southern Alberta Summer Games get going on Wednesday in Taber

TABER – The 49th Annual Southern Alberta Summer Games are set to begin Wednesday, July 4 until July 7 in Taber.

In a release, organizers say a free BBQ for the first 600 people begins at 5:30 p.m. along with live entertainment by Plum Crazy, bouncy castles for kids, and other activities as well.

Then opening ceremonies will take place starting at 7 p.m. at the Taber Cornfest Stage in Confederation Park. It will include an athlete parade, special awards, dignitaries and a message from a very special Olympic medalist who will be on hand.

Over 2,500 athletes and coaches will take part in 23 events over the four days. The Summer Games is an annual event that brings together athletes from all over Southern Alberta to compete in the sports they love.

The games will offer experience comradery, sportsmanship, and an opportunity for participants to develop their skills as an athlete.

Results will be available every night during the games here, and results are broken down by region or event.
