MELVILLE, Sask. – Home runs helped give the Lethbridge Bulls an insurmountable lead in a rain-shortened 8-2 victory over the Melville Millionaires Tuesday, July 10.

The Bulls scored five of their runs in the fourth inning of the five-inning game in Melville, thanks to a three-run homer by Hank Forrest and a two-run home run by Kaleb Warden. Earlier, Blake MacDonald hit a solo home run in the third.

Melville scored two in the bottom of the fifth, but the attempted rally was cut short by the weather. Lethbridge starter Ben Erwin pitched all five innings, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out four.

The Bulls improved to 13-19 with the win, one game behind the third-place Edmonton Prospects in the Western Division. They will wrap up their Saskatchewan trip Wednesday, July 11 with a rematch at Melville.
