Aug 7, 2018 | 10:27 AM

TABER – A tragedy on a rural road near Taber has claimed the lives of two young boys.

RCMP say a tractor towing a trailer was driving on Township Road 8-2 just north of the Chin Reservoir Sunday, August 5 at 8:30 p.m. Cst. Corinne Oliver says an adult was driving the tractor with other adults and youths on the trailer on their way to go swimming, when the driver lost control going down a hill near a sharp curve. The trailer rolled onto passengers who were riding on it. Two people were able to seek help.

Two boys, aged nine and 11, were pronounced dead at the scene. Two youths were treated for minor injuries at Taber hospital. One other person was transported by STARS to Foothills Hospital in Calgary and was in serious condition.

Three other people weren’t hurt.

Oliver say an investigation is continuing, with RCMP awaiting a report from a collision analyst who attended the scene. Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be factors in the accident, however road conditions are being considered. No word at this time whether any charges will be laid or whether the person driving the tractor towing the trailer had a valid license.
