Cardston man charged following early morning armed robbery

LETHBRIDGE – A 27-year-old Cardston man has been charged in connection with an armed robbery in our city early Thursday morning, Aug. 16.

The Lethbridge Police Service responded to the report of a robbery around 1:20 a.m., at a Gas King along the 2600 block of 16 Avenue South.

According to police, a masked man entered the store brandishing a knife and demanded cash. He then fled on foot after an undisclosed amount of money was handed over. Police located the suspect a short distance away and he was taken into custody without incident, and all of the money was recovered and returned to the business.

Dakota Bruce Ray Oka faces charges of robbery and disguised with intent. He remains in custody ahead of a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
