New homes account for half of building permit value in August

LETHBRIDGE – Half of the total value of August building permits in Lethbridge was for new single-family homes.

The city issued 179 permits during the month, with a total value of $22.5 million dollars. Of that, $11.5 million was for new single-family dwellings. $3.5 million was for commercial additions/alterations, $2 million was for secondary suites, and $1.6 million was the value of three permits for industrial additions and alterations.

So far this year, permits totalling $236.8 million have been issued, lagging slightly behind last year’s $267.1 million.
