Tim Hortons, ousted Lethbridge franchisee reach agreement

LETHBRIDGE – The parent company of Tim Hortons says it has reached an agreement with the head of a franchisee group who had his four Lethbridge restaurants seized.

Restaurant Brands International (RBI) says David Hughes has left the Tim Hortons business.

As president of the Great White North Franchisee Association (GWNFA), Hughes was a thorn in Restaurant Brands International’s side since its inception more than a year ago.

The four locations – 16 Aquitania Blvd. W., 442 Scenic Dr. S., 898 Heritage Blvd. W., and 2706 Mayor Magrath Drive – were put under corporate management on September 2nd.

At the time, RBI told Lethbridge News NOW Hughes’ removal was related to his conduct under his franchise agreement and not his involvement with the association. Hughes, in a statement, said at the time that he felt it was an attempt to put an end to the GWNFA.
