Critical Incident Team called out Sunday afternoon for west side incident

LETHBRIDGE —  The Lethbridge Police Service responded to an incident in on the west side just before 12:30 Sunday afternoon, initially requesting the public avoid the area.

Information from police indicates a man with mental health issues was in possession of a firearm at a home along the 100 block of McGill Boulevard West. Officers barricaded roadways leading to the area.

As a safety precaution, members of the Critical Incident Response Team were called to the scene.

At around 3:57 p.m. the man exited the home and was taken custody without further incident. The investigation is ongoing but there is no ongoing risk to the public
