Fatal train collision with flatbed in Taber curtails Highway 3 traffic
TABER — Taber Police were called to a fatal collision between a train and a flatbed truck hauing lumber around 10:30 Friday (Oct 5) morning. They confirm the driver of the flatbed died at the scene.
The collision happened at 57th Street and Highway 3 in Taber.
Highway-3 and Highway-36 north were shutdown, as well as 57th street at Highway-3, until 4:00-pm, with traffic redirected around Taber.
The investigation is on-going and Taber Police have called in the services of the RCMP Collision Reconstruction Unit from Calgary to assist. They indicate 47 Avenue between Highway 3 and 57 Street will be closed for 48-hours, or until late Sunday aftrenoon.
Drivers are cautioned to obey all road barriers and detour signs as posted. Please take an alternate route until the roadway is opened.
