Nov 5, 2018 | 10:29 AM

LETHBRIDGE —   Lowe’s is closing 31 properties across Canada in a bid to streamline its business, but isn’t saying how many people will lose their jobs in the process.

Twenty-seven mostly Rona stores, including nine in Ontario, nine in Quebec, six in Newfoundland and Labrador, two in Alberta (both in Calgary) and one in B-C are slated to close by February 1st.

The Lethbridge stores are not impacted.

In addition to closing 27 unprofitable stores, Lowe’s will also close two regional support centres in Ontario and Newfoundland, a truss plant in St. John’s and a block plant in Kamloops, B-C.

The American retailer currently operates 68 Lowe’s and 430 Rona stores across Canada.
