CARDSTON – The treatment of opioid addiction will be the subject of a public meeting in Cardston Tuesday, Nov. 13 that appears to have drawn a lot of interest.

Originally planned for council chambers as part of the regular town council meeting, it’s been moved to the Tanner Seniors Centre. The speakers will make a presentation on suboxone opioid treatment in Cardston, on behalf of Alberta Health Services.

Dr. Sajida Afridi and Hakique Virani, public health/addiction medicine specialists, will make a presentation and answer questions about treatment of opioid addiction during what is described as an epidemic of overdose deaths.

The meeting starts at 5 p.m.
