Nov 17, 2018 | 8:40 AM

LETHBRIDGE – The City of Lethbridge is developing a Municipal Housing Strategy aimed at understanding and addressing the housing needs in the community until the year 2025.

A release states this strategy will help the City to allocate resources and better serve households in need.

As part of the process, Lethbridge residents are invited to participate in a community workshop on Wednesday, Nov. 21 to discuss preliminary findings to date and develop a deeper understanding of the housing challenges residents currently face.

It’s taking place at the Coast Lethbridge Hotel & Conference Centre in the Grand Ballroom and runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

A City Council-appointed Municipal Housing Strategy Task Force is overseeing the development of the strategy.

The task force is chaired by Councillor Belinda Crowson and includes Mayor Chris Spearman, Councillor Blaine Hyggen and Councillor Rob Miyashiro.

The strategy is expected to be complete by March 2019 and will also serve as a strategic tool for all levels of government in planning and making decisions about social and affordable housing.
