Lethbridge man faces 15 charges relating to armed robbery in Chestermere

CHESTERMERE — ***Up-Dated   RCMP have charged 31 year old Cavan Cachene of Lethbridge in connection with the Chesterme robbery and highway pursuit which occurred on Wednesday (Nov 21) afternoon.

Around 5:00-pm, RCMP were called to a potential robbery at a restaurant, in which the suspect was said to have a firearm.

On the way to the location, officers noticed a vehicle linked to the suspect and attempted to stop the car. However, the driver sped east-bound on Highway-1, then crossed the median to head west-bound, only to cross the median a second time to head east-bound again.

The driver eventually stopped and was taken into custody.There were no reports of injury or property damage.
 
An initial investigation revealed the robbery attempt occurred between acquaintances during a verbal dispute and the incident was not a random act.
 
Cachene was remanded in custody and faces 15 charges, including robbery, Use of a Firearm in Commission of an Offence, Uttering Threats,  three counts of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, two counts of Possession of Weapon contrary to a Prohibition Order, Failure to Stop while Pursued by Peace Officer, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Operating a Motor Vehicle while Impaired by Alcohol, Operating Motor Vehicle while Over .08, two counts of Resisting Arrest and Failure to Comply with Conditions of an Undertaking.
