Hurricanes chart 6-4 win over the Hitmen in Calgary
CALGARY — The Hurricanes wrapped up their final game before the Christmas break on a positive note – a 6-4 win against the Hitmen in Calgary.
The first period got off to a punch start as nine seconds in from puck drop, Taylor Ross tossed one into the Hitmen net off an assist from Dylan Cozens.
Other than a couple of minor penalties for the Canes, the first period came to an end with team leading 1-0.
If the first period belonged to the Canes, I was the Hitmen who took control of the second. Calgary’s Mark Katelic tied the game two minutes in. Then, four minutes later, The Canes Jake Elmer and the Hitmen’s Jackson van de Leest dropped the gloves and went after each other, resulting in a five-minute major for the pair.
