LETHBRIDGE – Operation Red Nose has proven a popular option so far this Christmas season in Lethbridge.

The volunteer-based service that drives people home in their own vehicles has provided 757 rides through six nights, for an average per night of 126. That’s well above the average of 97 per night for all ten nights of the service in 2017 and for 12 nights in 2016.

The total so far is also the highest in the country outside of Quebec, where Operation Red Nose first began in 1984.

The busiest night so far has been Saturday, Dec. 15. with 183 rides provided. There are four nights to go: Thursday, Dec. 20, Friday, Dec. 21, Saturday, Dec. 22 and Monday, Dec. 31.
